Using Solar Lights for Decorative Needs
Solar lights are used to illuminate outdoor pathways and highlight landscaping, but they can also be used indoors. They require rechargeable batteries, but they will help save money when only a small amount of light is required. They are also quite decorative when used in creative new ways. Try these unique and creative ways to use solar lights indoors, and do something different when decorating just about any room in the home.
Choose Eye-Catching Colored Fixtures
Before deciding that outdoor solar lights are too plain ordinary for use indoors, check out the many options. They are not all colorless and cheap in quality. For something really unique choose colored mosaic glass options. They are absolutely beautiful when illuminated indoors using creative methods.
Use Solar Lights Inside of Ordinary Glass Globes
Upward facing glass globes provide the ideal opportunity to use lights in a creative new way. Remove the light bulbs from the globes, and remove the solar lights from their posts. Place the fixtures into the globes after they have been fully charged for several hours in direct sunlight. They will beautifully illuminate the globes they rest inside of for approximately four to eight hours. When they fit properly inside the glass globes, no one will guess they are solar lights. Instead they will look like highly unique globes never found anywhere else.
Place them in Candle Scones for a Unique Lighted Display
Another one of the most creative ways to use solar lights indoors is with candle sconces. Remove candle sconce globes from their stand, and attach the globes of solar lights with a little poster putty or rolled masking tape. If the original glass globes used to hold candles are large enough to hold the globes and tops of the lights, simply place them inside after removing the candles. In either case the solar lights will look absolutely lovely when used indoors with otherwise ordinary candle sconces.
Create a Unique Lighted Bowl
When looking for ways to use solar lights indoors, consider making a solar bowl. Fill a large clear glass bowl with flat glass marbles. Place a charged solar light into the center of the bowl of marbles, and be sure to cover the top. Place it in between a set of pillar candles for a lovely display.
